Who is this course for?

SPC’s High School Preparation (HSP) programme is designed for international students aged 12–17 who are preparing to enter an Australian high school.Students develop the English language, academic study skills and confidence they need to succeed in the Australian classroom, while learning to live, study and communicate independently in an English-speaking environment.The programme provides a strong pathway to Queensland schools, including through SPC’s partnership with Education Queensland International (EQI).

Course Description

Sun Pacific College’s High School Preparation (HSP) programme combines intensive English language development with academic preparation for Australian secondary education. Students develop their skills in English, STEM, academic study preparation, technology and digital literacy, reading, research and assignment preparation. Learning extends beyond the classroom through sport, wellbeing activities and community-based experiences.Students living on the SPC Cairns campus benefit from a supportive residential environment where they can continue using English throughout the day, build independence and prepare for life at an Australian high school.

Prior Knowledge

Students are assessed before commencing the programme to determine their current English proficiency and individual study needs. SPC then places each student at the appropriate level and develops their programme according to their English ability, academic requirements and intended high-school entry year.
